2010 Bowling Green football predictions

It was a very successful first season for new head coach Dave Clawson as he led Bowling Green Falcons for solid finish third in the MAC East and a record of 7-6 overall. This year only eight Clawson will start again from last season, but still there is much talent to put together a winning season. Here is a quick summary of what the Hawks will bring to the table on both sides of the ball, plus my thoughts where they will end the year in the MAC.

Offense:

The Falcons need to find a replacement for the 2009 Marshall Tyler Sheehan. Looking ahead to the 2010 season looks like a pair of freshmen will battle for the starting job in Matthew and Kellen Pagal Schilz. Regardless of who wins work, the Falcons should be a great success in the passing game this year.

The Falcons running back Willie Geter higher return, who led the way with 705 yards and nine touchdowns in 2009. Gete is also able to catch passes out of the backfield, as he caught 42 passes for 407 yards and an additional touchdown. Student Josh Pettigrew sophomore and freshman "Red Shirt" figure Erique Geiger to fight for the backup role behind main Gete.

Tyrone Senior Pronty return to the starting lineup after playing in one game in 2009. Pronty more than likely going to be the man of this season if he can stay healthy. Added to the starting mixture will be higher and junior Calvin Wiley Kamar Jordan. We must also keep an eye on freshmen "Redshirts" tight end Alex Bayer

The Falcons will be very inexperienced on the offensive line, and that has to be a major concern this team heading into the start of the season. The Falcons have only two starters back and the only senior expected to start at right tackle Tyler oldest Donahue. What how well this unit fits a long way in determining how good the Falcons.

Defense:

The Falcons had only three to start the trial of the ball in 2009, and ended up giving up 55 yards and four points a game. The Falcons have just four starters in the 2010, but a lot of help back up against the defensive line. Junior Kevin Alvarado and sophomore Chris Jones return in the middle in the tackle defensive points, while Angelo Magnone high returns at defensive end.

The three starters must be replaced at linebacker this season for the Falcons, and this unit will be a major concern for the Falcons. Sophomore Dwayne Woods is expected to take more in the center, while seniors Calvin Marshall Eugene Fells and is expected to make their way into the starting lineup at the two points out.

Junior cornerback Adrian Spencer is the only starter back in the secondary so it's pretty safe to say that this unit will be down a few notches in 2010. Senior Robert Lorenzi is expected to take over in the other corner point, while Keith Morgan and young Jovan Leacock reception at the two safety positions open.

MAC East Forecast – 5: I think it will be interesting see how the Hawks do this season, as they are one of the most talented young teams that the MAC has to offer. At this point I think we will fight, but if get into a roll and gain confidence that could flow to surprise many teams this year. I have them going 5-7 and losing in a bowl game this year.
