Drum brakes and disc brakes HCV …?

Why drum brakes used on heavy commercial vehicles (HCV) examples: Peterbilts, Kenworths, Mack, Western Stars, etc, etc. instead of the giant disk brakes? Is it because the song disc brakes take all that they were forced to accept the pressure or is it also Bécasse the club may slow down or melt?
