Vintage Poly

Vintage Poly
Are there commercial furniture polishes that leave a residue of wax?

We just inherited a set of cherry buffet dining room of my mother-in-law. I have always used Orange Glo, Murphy's oil soap, pledge or Endust before cleaning and polishing wood furniture. But for some reason, this table is an accumulation wax on it when you use any of these products (which seals the wood, although I'm not sure if it's shellac or varnish or poly), which has an envelope in greasy greasy him. Are there other items that could try to not damage the wood at all? It is no time, a set of Ethan Allen bought for about 5. Any ideas of other products or methods would be greatly appreciated. For now I just buff with a microfiber cloth, but I would be able to polish, so every month or so.

The problem with the person who finished (sealed) the table used a water-based sealant. That is why why when you try to polish that leaves a "cloudy" look. Now I can say I have good news and bad news. Let's start with the bad. There is only one of two ways to do this. The correct way and incorrect. The good news. The wrong way has an infinite number of possibilities. The correct way would be to remove the finish and put one better in what you do not have that problem.
