Ronda Swiss steak recipes deer with food Vintage

Fall and deer hunting are synonymous in many areas. Looking through my collection prescription of time, I realized this old Swiss steak recipe venison round. If you enjoy venison, give this meal a try. Our menu includes venison round, the Kentucky-style corn and salted peanut cake.

2 venison fillets round, about 1 1 / 2 pounds
1 / 4 cup flour
2 teaspoon salt
1 / 8 teaspoon pepper
1 / 4 cup butter
1 cup water
1 med onion, chopped
1 cup chopped celery
1 / 2 cup sour cream

Wipe fillets clean with a damp cloth. Combine flour, salt and pepper. Libra on the fillets in flour mixture to the edge of a main dish. Brown both sides of fillets and any remaining flour mixture into butter. Add 1 / 4 cup water. Cover and simmer, add the remaining water as needed. When the meat is almost tender (After 1 to 2 hours), add the onion and celery and cook until completely tender. Add sour cream and cook for 2 minutes. Serve at once. From 1 1 / 2 to 2 1 / 2 hours total cooking time will be necessary, the time depending on the age of the animal. Serves 5.

-STYLE KENTUCKY CORN

4 slices bacon
1 small onion, sliced
1 green pepper, seeded and sliced
2 (17 ounce) cans ea whole kernel corn, drained
1 (3 1/2-oz) jar or can of pepper, drained and sliced
1 / 4 teaspoon salt
dash pepper

In a large skillet, cook until bacon is crisp and stirring with a paper towel or paper plate to drain. Add onion and bell pepper in bacon drippings pan. Cook five minutes, stirring frequently, until tender. Add corn, pepper, salt and pepper. Cook until heated through. Crumble bacon, sprinkle over corn mixture. Serves six.

This maize can be done over a fire, using an iron skillet on the coals.

SALTED peanuts cakes

1 cup brown sugar
1 / 2 cup shortening **
1 egg
1 cup sour milk *
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup salted peanuts
1 1 / 2 cups flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all ingredients in the order listed. Grease and flour a greased 9 x 13 inches. Pour batter into pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
