I have to go from Boston to San Diego in 7 days. How much and how far we have to drive every day?

I'm driving cross country to Boston to San Diego because I'm moving to San Diego. Some friends come along for the ride they have to return to work in Boston for a time. We leave October 21 and we have to get to San Diego later than 10/28. We are driving the southern route I think, going from 84 to 81 of 40 All of the road. How many miles / hour should drive every day to make that deadline, but also be safe? I will have a U-Haul trailer attached to my car so can only go so fast. I also like to sleep each night. Also, if we reserve motel rooms each morning or wait until we get to our destination each night? Do the motels charge if cancel within 24 hours? Any advice on this road and travel in general would be helpful. Thank you!

It all depends on the drivers. Picking up passengers at rest areas and the use of coupons. 81 receive the North Carolina mountains, especially with a U-Haul. At this time of year is likely to get the fog of the night. 40 is fine, except for the severe storms sometimes ta come through Texas. You can do this in 4-5 days. Simply weather conditions permit and traffic. 600 miles up the day, I think.
