Gabardine Shirt
Do I need to change the way I dress?

My office is “business casual”, according to the employee manual. I wear Button Down shirts, knee or calf length gabardine skirts, hose, and heels. the other women in my office wear sweaters and knakis. I don’t think pants and sweaters look good on me and I don’t feel comfortable wearing them. My supervisor said that I could wear pants and sneakers if I wanted to. I said I was OK in my clothes. I’ve looked it up and what I’m wearing is considered business casual and I don’t want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe since I always wear dresses and skirts in my off time anyway. I’ve had most of my clothes altered over the years to fit me better too. What should I do?

Continue to wear what you do – you’re within dress code so there is no need to change. If you are asked again, just say you are more comfortable dressed as you are.
