Fathers Day
Fathers Day
How should I tell him I'm pregnant on Father's Day?
I just found out today that I am pregnant with my first child. Father's Day is this weeks away. I was thinking it is better to wait to say to get him a fathers day card and wrapping my pregnancy test. What do you think? Does anyone has a better idea?
Add to any gift a list of reasons why he appreciates. Perhaps they have entered into a wall of the plague. Please do not obtain a card joke. In my 20 years working with parents, has been rare for a card joke that makes fun of your skills is greatly appreciated. I wrote this for "Dear Abby" for Father's Day, March 19, 2005. THANKS FOR THE WORK DONE IS WHAT PARENTS WANT TO HEAR DEAR ABBY: Today is Father's Day, why not try to do more for dear old dad to give him the usual greeting card that promotes the idea that all parents are idiots, followed by a collect call to see what thought of the card. (Father's Day is the day most collect calls are made.) We should treat our parents the way we treat our mothers in the Mother's Day and show them we appreciate them for being there. Yes, you may tell your father all the time that you love, but men's minds work differently. Anyone can say "I love you", but as men, knowing that they are appreciated for a job well done is what really gets us teary-eyed. Another thing you can do – especially you kids out there (but can daughters think so) – is making sure that Dad has gone to the doctor for an exam, including research depression. This can go a long way toward ensuring that you are here next year on Father's Day. I was not raised by my father, but by a stepfather. Although we have not seen eye to eye on many things, I would not be the person I am today if it were not for him. This man, who spent years climbing on top of heavy equipment construction to prepare the ground for many of the homes, businesses, roads and highways of Southern California, now has difficulty getting into a car. Although none of houses or roads have his name on them, are all testimony of his life and the lives of men like him. So today, let's do something more for dad, without him pulling out his wallet to pay for it. – George McCasland, Overland Park, Kansas ***************************************** ********************** Remember, there are a lot of us parents sitting in nursing homes whose children live too far away to visit. Contact in contact with an activities director on volunteering on Sunday morning. Read aloud a list of why his father appreciated.
