How to deal with a 13-year-old with an attitude?

I do not believe in child beating so please do not tell me to do that. My 13 year old daughter has developed a serious attitude problem. I need some suggestions on how to deal with it when it comes to this issue.

I would remove things one by one from her that she really likes or wants, like a mobile phone etc. then when she has a point – Return January 1 and I hope she'll get the message!
